Childcare is provided for Catechists and adults attending faith formation. 

Did you know that Our Lady of the Black Hills is a Stewardship Parish? That means formation classes and sacramental prep classes are available at NO COST to our parishioners. Our Lady of the Black Hills knows that your family is a BUSY family. The catechists that come each week to share the Word of God with your children are just like you! However, faith formation is just like any other activity your family participates in. It requires many volunteers. PLEASE prayerfully consider helping with a class or childcare this year so we can continue our mission as a stewardship parish.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Elementary Faith Formation

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd (CGS) is a Montessori hands on approach to sharing the richness of our Catholic Faith with children for ages 4-6, 6-9, and 9-12. The program is presented in three levels and includes time in the “Atrium” where children learn through tactile play and prayer. CGS emphasizes quiet contemplation and “the enjoyment of God.” Children need to be 4 years old by September 1st of the school year, and potty trained to begin CGS level 1. 

If your child is in 4TH GRADE or above and has never been in CGS – they will be registered for a Traditional class.  Traditional faith formation is book led; the curriculum this year is from the Sophia Institute. Traditional faith formation is book led; the curriculum this year is from the Sophia Institute. The Class levels for Traditional are: 4th-6th grade.
