Adult Faith Formation


Our Lady of the Black Hills offers several Adult Faith Formation opportunities:

RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (Classes to learn more about/join the Catholic Church)

Visit Becoming Catholic  to learn more. Offered Sundays between Masses from 9:30-10:45 AM. Individuals seeking to learn about the Catholic Church, desiring to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, or Catholics wanting to learn more about the Church are invited to attend weekly education and faith sharing. Please feel free to attend and learn more about the faith, there is no obligation to join the Church. Contact the office with questions at 605-787-5168.

The Eucharist

A  group will meet to learn about the Eucharist in the Old and New Testaments. This engaging study discusses the culture of the Jewish people, the signs of the Eucharist, and how the Eucharist is relevant today. The group will meet Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:45 AM in Bethlehem Cave for 10 sessions. The study starts January 8th, so sign up today. Please contact Angela with questions at 605-787-5168.

Bible Studies

Early Bird Bible Study: Mondays at 7:30 AM in the library, led by Duane Riedlinger

'Just Men' Bible Study: Thursdays at 9 AM in the St. Joseph's Hall kitchen (upstairs), this study covers the upcoming weekend's readings including reflection and discussion. This study is led by Dave Allardyce.

Sunday Scripture Study: Thursdays at 9 AM in the parish hall. All women are welcome to join us as we delve into the rich history of the Catholic faith thorugh the readings for the upcoming weekend's Masses with emphasis on the historical setting, culture of the time, and doctrine of each reading. The study is led by Shawna Hanson.

Teaching Tuesdays

The fourth Tuesday of each month; all are welcome to attend lectures on various topics from invited speakers. Lectures are from 6:30-7:30 PM. Feel free to come to one or all sessions!

Theology on Tap

Join us the first Monday of the month (the second Monday if the first is a holiday) at the OLBH Rectory, 8242 Stagestop Road, from 7:15-9:15 PM. Theology on Tap is a speaker series open to young adults in the 20s and 30s to learn more about the Catholic faith and to grow in fellowship. Bring a beverage, we will have the snacks!
