Adult Faith Formation


Our Lady of the Black Hills offers several Adult Faith Formation opportunities:

RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (Classes to learn more about/join the Catholic Church)

Visit Becoming Catholic  to learn more. Offered Tuesday evenings from 6:30-8 PM. Individuals seeking to learn about the Catholic Church, desiring to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, or Catholics wanting to learn more about the Church are invited to attend weekly education and faith sharing. Please feel free to attend and learn more about the faith, there is no obligation to join the Church. Contact the office with questions at 605-787-5168.

Divine Mercy with Fr. Michael Gaitley

A  group will meet to learn and hear the dramatic history of Gd's love and mercy intertwined with the transfomative message of St. Faustina, the appearance of Mary at Fatima, the witness of Maximilian Kolbe, and the world- changing papacy of Pope St. John Paul II. The group will meet Sunday mornings from 9:30-10:45 AM in Bethlehem Cave. The first session will be Sunday, September 18th and will continue for 10 sessions. *There is no class on October 9th or November 20th. The last session will be held December 4th. Catholics Returning Home Program

For adults interested in returning to the Catholic church. There is no charge and no need to register. Classes will be held at Our Lady of the Black Hills on Mondays from 6:30-8 PM beginning October 3rd and finishing November 7th.

Bible Studies

Early Bird Bible Study: Mondays at 7:30 AM in the library, led by Duane Riedlinger

'Just Men' Bible Study: Thursdays at 9 AM in the St. Joseph's Hall kitchen (upstairs), this study covers the upcoming weekend's readings including reflection and discussion. This study is led by Dave Allardyce.

Women's Bible Study: Thursdays at 9 AM in the parish hall. All women are welcome to join us as we delve into the rich history of the Catholic faith thorugh the readings for the upcoming weekend's Masses with emphasis on the historical setting, culture of the time, and doctrine of each reading. The study is led by Shawna Hanson.

Teaching Tuesdays

The fourth Tuesday of each month; all are welcome to attend lectures on various topics from invited speakers. Lectures are from 6:30-7:30 PM. Feel free to come to one or all sessions!

Theology on Tap

Join us the first Monday of the month (the second Monday if the first is a holiday) at Neighbors Grub and Pub in Summerset from 7:15-9:15 PM. Theology on Tap is a speaker series open to young adults in the 20s and 30s to learn more about the Catholic faith and to grow in fellowship. Visit Theology on Tap to view upcoming speakers.
